BSF Partners with University of Calgary to Bring Community Engaged Learning Program to Wentworth Manor

At BSF, our vision is to create a future where people can live life to the fullest, with dignity, hope and happiness — in caring and supportive communities. We understand the importance of education, and are always looking for new ways to foster learning opportunities for not only BSF staff, but also our communities, including nursing and medical students. We are proud to have partnered with the Indigenous, Local & Global Health Office and Undergraduate Medical Education at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine to bring their Community Engaged Learning (CEL) Program to our Wentworth Manor site during the Winter 2024 and Spring 2024 semesters.

Teaching and learning models, such as the Community Engaged Learning Program, enable nursing students and BSF staff to work together and learn from one another, ultimately strengthening person-centered care and enhancing the quality of life and care for our residents.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your invaluable time and expertise during my CEL experience. Working with your team has profoundly shaped my understanding of elder care. I've learned the significance of empathy, patience, and holistic care. I will carry these insights into my future clinical practice, ensuring compassionate and comprehensive care for all patients. Thank you for being exceptional co-educators.”

- Paige, University of Calgary Undergraduate Medical Education Student
