About the Project

Physical activity is vital at all stages of life, especially for older adults. Staying active can improve quality of life, reduce functional decline, and mitigate the risk of pressure ulcers and bone loss for our residents. At The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF), we aim to foster independence and well-being among our residents. In July of 2024, a refreshed Nursing Walking Program launched at Bow View Manor, offering another chance for daily movement and support for residents transitioning from active rehabilitation programs. This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles across all BSF sites.

Impact of the Project

  • For Residents: Walking regularly can improve overall health, enhance mobility, and promote independence, reducing the risk of pressure ulcers and bone loss.
  • For Staff: Mobile residents can lessen the physical demands on caregivers, contributing to a safer and more efficient workplace.
